HP DeskJet 6540 Printer Ink Cartridges

This colour inkjet printer delivers quality prints and product satisfaction just like most of the HP branded inkjet printers do.  The HP6540 is a speed demon; though the output quality is better than just okay, it is not as mind-blowing as other high-end printers.  However, considering the price, just having print quality just short of excellence is icing on the cake.  You can change the ink cartridges from black to colour photo to photo-gray, depending on whether you want a black and white photo, full-colored photo or monochrome photos.  The only down-side of this feature is that you have to store the cartridges in a little holder, that's meant to stop them from drying out.... but we're dubious about this.

The set-up is just your typical USB 2.0 port for your desktop, it automatically install the programs needed and you finish off the setup with a print head alignment.  The printing time is way faster than other printers within its price range.  The text print produced by the 6540 HP refills is very good; I tried printing text in small points and different fonts to check the readability of the prints.  Amazingly, the prints were still readable at 6 points and several fonts were still readable at 4 points, though not all fonts pass the test, it was still impressive.  Hewlett Packard earn deserving bragging rights for this performance.

The photo quality is not as good as I would have liked, though the prints were decent, it is definitely not the best.  But considering the quality, speed and other features, it's not bad at all.  Though the quality is not as high as the printers used in professional photographic shops, it is still better than other printers out there.  This is a great printer for people who are looking for an inexpensive every day inkjet.  This model is a good choice for that.  Very reliable and hardworking, a true value for money.
